Recycled Spice Jar Ornament~Guest Post by 4 You With Love~

Hi!  I’m Marilyn and I blog at  4 You With Love where I share the crafting, cooking, knitting and other DIY projects that I try my hand at.  My most popular post, by far, is my paper bag floor.  Today, I’m super psyched to be here at SaltTree kicking off the Christmas Cavalcade with a quick and easy ornament project.

Take a look!

Yup, today we are going to start our project with a simple used spice jar.

You first need to take the label off and make sure any glue residue is removed.  You will also need to spray paint your lid the color of your choice. As you can see, I painted mine silver.

Next you need to choose some items that you’d like to fill your jar with.  I chose some colorful bells and sparkly curling ribbon.
Next, fill your jars.  (I chose to fill one with bells and the other with curled ribbon.  I think they’re looking pretty good).

You will need to find a way to attach a loop to your lid so you can hang your ornament.  I chose to cut a piece of curling ribbon and I secured the ends to the underside of the lid with packing tape.

Here they are on the tree.  Simple yet fun.  Once the painted lids were dry this ornament only took about 15 minutes to make.

Thanks again for having me here.  It’s been a blast.  I can’t wait to see the other Christmas Cavalcade projects to come.  Also, I’d love for you to visit 4 You With Love and check out our Homemade Holiday Party and Celebration.

This is great. I like that it is based on recycling old containers. I showed this to my young daughter and now we’re going to make some for our tree this year. Thanks for the idea :)
