Dutch Chocolate Christmas Cookies

These delicious cookies are rich, dark and have a crunch thanks to the red and green M&M’s.  The colourful ingredients make this cookie mix a cheery, festive gift in a jar this holiday season.  The receiver of this jar of yumminess will only need to add 3 ingredients to whip them up!  Sweet!

Ingredients for Jar
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup Dutch processed cocoa
3/4 cup white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup white chocolate baking chips
1 1/4 cups red and green M&M’s or Smarties

Mix the flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl.  Layer the flour mixture, then the remaining ingredients in a 1 quart, wide mouth mason jar in the order listed. Settle or pack the layers as you go.

Next, include the following on a gift tag or recipe card.  Decorate jar with ribbon if desired.

Remaining Ingredients {for the recipient to add}
3/4 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

To Make Cookies {for the recipient}
1. In a large bowl, beat together 3/4 cup softened butter,2  eggs and 1 1/2 tsp vanilla until combined well.
2. Add the entire contents of the jar and mix until just until incorporated.
3. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart.  Flatten slightly.
4. Bake in a 350F preheated oven for 10 minutes.  Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
